Hello world!

Hello all! I'm back :)
I've been busy with home remodeling projects and co-chairing the fall book fair at my son's school. A lot of fun but a lot of work.

The Collectors Cut blog has started back up and our first challenge back was to create a shaped card.

Our most recent challenge was to create a Halloween decor project.

"Happy Easter"

This is an Easter basket I created for The Collectors Cut's weekly challenge. I drew the Walk in My Garden, Printing 101 and Groovy Times cartridges to create this.

I used white cardstock and Glimmer Mists again for this challenge. The flower pot was cut from Core'dinations cardstock. I backed the leaves with a scrap of paper from the Green Tea stack from DCWV.

A close up of the flowers ...

summer banner

Here is this week's project for The Collectors Cut. I drew the Dinosaur Tracks, Lacy Labels and Pooh & Friends cartridges for this challenge.

I cut the letter pieces & backs from Dinosaur Tracks, the flowers from Lacy Labels and the butterflies from Pooh & Friends.

I used large pop dots on the letters pieces & butterflies and small pop dots on the flowers.

All papers are from DCWV's Green Tea stack. The glitter glues are from Creative Imaginations and Studio G. The ribbon is from Michaels' Celebrate It! line.

"miss you"

Here is this week's project for The Collectors Cut. I drew the Pagoda, Cindy Loo and Winter Frolic cartridges to use and was quite worried about what I was going to create with these cartridges. I was able to use one cut from each cartridge for this project.

I opted to do a 12x12 canvas so that i can eventually use a shadow box to display this in my living room. This is one of the last pictures we have of my parents before they passed away and I wanted to do something special to showcase it.

The flourish frame was cut from Winter Frolic using the border feature and welded on my Gypsy. The flower layers were cut from Pagoda and "miss you" was cut from Cindy Loo. I used white cardstock and Glimmer Mist for the cuts again this week. The canvas was "colored" using alcohol inks and a foam blending tool. The pearls and bling are by Recollections.

Here are close-ups of the flowers.

Thank you for taking the time to look!

Check out The Collectors Cut tonight to see what else has been created for this week's challenge.

"snow" banner

I was asked by my son's teacher to come up with a craft that the class could make at their holiday party before break. I decided on a small banner that was winter-themed to make sure I didn't offend anyone.

I used my Cricut to cut all the layers for this banner. The base layer was cut using Lacy Labels, the snowflake is from Winter Lace and the letters are from Opposites Attract. The papers are all older papers that I bought at Michaels quite awhile ago. I don't even know the names of the companies that made them. I tied it all together using strips of white tulle.

kusudama flower ball

I made this one for my stylist who I've known for years. He decorates his Christmas tree in reds and I knew what I was going to do once I found that out. :)

I used papers by DCWV and My Minds Eye, Creative Imaginations glitter glue, Zip Dry Paper Glue, Darice gems and Offray ribbon.

treat baskets

These are the treat baskets I made for my son's classmates for their Christmas party.

I used 9" squares for these. I will use 7 1/2" squares next time because they were a bit too big this time.

The base pieces are AC embossed cardstock and the snowflakes were cut from white cardstock using my Cricut and Winter Lace cartridge. The silver/gray box snowflakes are sprayed with Frost Glimmer Mist and the blue box snowflakes are sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist. I tied the baskets off with strips of white tulle.

"snow" kusudama flower ball

I decided to make a kusudama flower ball for my Christmas tree using my favorite color and theme. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I used older papers from DCWV, Creative Imaginations glitter glue, Zip Dry Paper Glue, Celebrate It! ribbon and some snowflake embellishments I had received in a swap on the Cricut Messageboard.

I hope you like it!

more for GIBBS 5

This is the last item I have to post from Tracy's goodies. I will soon be posting some of the layouts I did at the weekend crop I went to Veteran's Day weekend.

This project was "treats for your partner and family". I made this treat basket from some embossed AC cardstock and used some of the leaves from the wreath as embellishments with button centers to look like holly and berries.

Christmas wreath

This is the next to last project for Tracy that I have to share with you.

I used the same papers for the wreath that I used for the banner as well as the same Glimmer Mists. I found the little pearls at Hobby Lobby in the bridal department and decided to tuck them in between the leaves in various spots. All of the leaves were cut using my Cricut and Walk in My Garden cartridge.

Christmas tags

.... more goodies made for Tracy's box :)

I used papers and die cuts from Making Memories' Fa La La line for the tags above. I used my Cricut to cut the tag bases, holly & berries, poinsettias and "Happy Holidays" with various cartridges. I decided to 'pretty' the tags up by using Creative Imaginations glitter glue and Sakura glaze pens along with various ribbons.

For the tags below I used Reminisce's Snow Globe line. I used my Cricut for these tag bases as well along with the holly & berries, tree and the sayings. I 'prettied' these tags up with Creative Imaginations glitter glue, Sakura Glaze pens and Sakura Stardust pens.

Kusudama/Origami

I made this Kusudama flower ball for my GIBBS 5 partner, Tracy.

The papers are from Karen Foster Designs, Paper Studio and Paper Pizazz. The ribbon is from Offray and the beads are from the $1 bead rack at JoAnn Fabrics.

"Peace" banner

This is a banner I made for Tracy for the GIBBS 5 swap on the Cricut Messageboard.

I used my Cricut to cut all of the pieces with the Lacy Labels and Storybook cartridges. The letters are cut from Storybook and I used Lacy Labels for all of the layers. I made 3 cuts of each letter to make them more dimensional by stacking them on top of each other.

letters ~ basic cardstock, Creative Imaginations Glitter Glue
snowflake frame ~ AC Cardstock, Holo Iridescent Viva Decor Glitter Liner
sweet base ~ Moxxie Winter Wishes patterned paper, Frost Glimmer Mist
flower base ~ Reminisce Snow Globe patterned cardstock, Pearl Glimmer Mist
flower shadow base ~ AC Cardstock
tulle ~ glitter tulle from Hobby Lobby

picture frame

This picture frame was sent off to Tracy for the GIBBS 5 swap on the Cricut Messageboard.

I originally covered this frame with a mixture of chocolate brown acrylic paint and gold diamond dust but didn't think it was good enough. I decided to use Tim Holtz' Tattered Rose Distress Crackle paint instead. The Grungeboard accents were painted with acrylic paint and then sprayed with Key Lime Pie Glimmer Mist. The flowers are spiral paper roses cut from some paper from Heidi Grace Designs and sprayed with Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. I used Zip Dry Paper Glue to adhere the flowers to the frame.

THANKS for looking!

Halloween goody boxes

Wow! It's been quite awhile since I last posted. I've been busy finishing up Tracy's goodies for the GIBBS Round 5 swap on the Cricut Messageboard. I am happy to say I shipped that off today and I will be sharing a couple more sneak peaks followed by full pictures once she's received her box.

Anyway ....... I wanted to share the goody boxes I made for my son's classmates for their Halloween party last week.

The boxes were bought on clearance at Michaels a couple of years ago from the Brides section. I cut the bat "ring" out using my Cricut & Pumpkin Carvings cartridge and sprayed with Slate and Cinder Glimmer Mists. The "treats" tag is a stamp from Pink Paislee's Twilight line that I hand cut and sprayed with Key Lime Pie Glimmer Mist. I attached the tags using ribbon by Offray.
